cut out animation

Cut out technique is a table top animation that uses 2D puppets. This Cut outs can be pretty much anything from hand drawn images, cut up already existing images or even just random materials. This technique is sometimes combined with a light box to get the silhouette effect, as seen in the film The Adventures of Prince Achmed. This weeks task had us make an animation of either a fairy tale or a fable, this one being of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.

The pictures below are the character from the video above, before being printed, glued to cardboard and cut out.

pixilation

Pixilation animation is where people or objects are animated in a way that seems unnatural or impossible for real life, for example T-shirt wars in which the items on people shirts seem to affect the real world. For the weeks task. The animation also had to be based on a recent news event, so i chose the incident in which a clerk fended off a gun wielding robber with a machete. UPDATE: technically this doesn't count as pixilation as it uses puppets and not people or objects
